Need to Speed Up Your Marriage Certificate?

Getting your marriage certificate can take 10–14 weeks. However, if you’re moving abroad or facing an upcoming immigration hearing, the process can often be expedited to as little as 4–6 weeks. Here’s what to do:

Step 1: Get Your Marriage Licence

Apply through your local City Hall or municipal office. For Toronto residents, start here.

Step 2: Submit Your Application and Book Your Appointment

Only one partner needs to attend the appointment, but you must bring documents for both partners. Your marriage Licence is valid for 90 days and can be used anywhere in Ontario.

Step 3: Book With Dearly Beloved Ceremonies

Book your ceremony as early as you can—there’s no need to wait for your Licence. Just select a date after your appointment and ensure two witnesses can attend. Email a photo of your marriage Licence to joann@dearlybeloved.ca.

Step 4: Prepare Your Proof of Urgency Letter and Package

Contact joann@dearlybeloved.ca for a template or assistance with your letter. Gather and scan any documents supporting your request—such as plane tickets, immigration hearing notices, or job offer letters.

Step 5: Apply For Your Marriage Certificate

On your wedding day, submit your application online and select the “Premium Service” delivery option. Include your Marriage Certificate Order Number in your urgency letter or share it with your officiant.

Step 6: Wedding Day!

Bring your marriage Licence, urgency letter, and supporting documents. I will ensure all required documents are properly submitted to the Registrar General’s Office on your behalf.
